Hi, I’m Austin Weisgrau. I’m responsible for the U-Haul delays at initiation. I want to extend an apology to everyone that felt annoyed or offended by my behavior. I feel uncomfortable with the U-Haul. There are a variety of problematics: the un-safety of having a bunch of people in the back of a U-Haul is a compelling point to me. Not everyone knows or consents to what’s happening in the U-Haul. Not everyone at Reed or Lewis and Clark have an opportunity to avoid the event. There are ways to deal with all of these problems, and I don’t necessarily think any of them justify sabotage. Saul Alinsky would probably argue that it is an ineffective way to affect change.
So here is my point, for community consideration, if I have not soiled my privilege of having a voice. I think the U-haul should quit. We can use Reed vans. We’d lose a bit of the Auschwitz vibe, but I don’t think we’d miss it. We should make sure we’re creating space for all of our community members, including Clarkies, to feel safe. RKSK should keep the fakakhta on, and Reedies should keep wrestling over making the meshugana acceptable. Feel free to get in touch with me about this, I’d be happy to keep talking.
