Ever feel like you want to dispel some stress/angst/ennui/overflowing creative genius
by painting all over a wall? Ever feel like you want whatever masterpiece goes up
on that wall to stay there for three years and be seen + appreciated by the Reed
Community? Ever feel like you want Senate to give you the $$$ to make that magic
happen?
Well then, has Murals Committee got a deal for you. Here’s the quick and dirty run-down:
- Right now, the every mural space in the downstairs GCC area is an available
one where a new mural could be painted. BY YOU!
- If you would like to paint a mural in one of those spaces, Senate can pay for
the supplies that will turn your dream into a reality.
- In order to partake in this SB funded dream alchemy, all you gotta do is send
a proposal email to muralscommittee@lists.reed.edu with:
- A sketch of your proposed mural design
- The location where you would like to paint that mural
- A tentative timeline detailing how long it will take you to paint your mural and when during Spring Semester you would ideally like to carry out your plan
- An estimated budget
- A brief description of any applicable past experience you have with or related to mural creation
- Proposals are due by December 5th, 2014. During Winter Break, Murals
Committee will review all proposals. After break we will meet with the Art
Collection Management Committee, at which point both committees will vote
to decide which murals get funded.
- If your mural is chosen, we will contact you at the beginning of Spring
Semester, allocate your $$$, and get you ready to roll as you prepare to carry
out the creation of your magnum opus.
There you have it. In no time at all you could be the next Van Gogh, the next
Banksy, the next Bob Ross. So send in those proposals, please! We’re excited to
see them.
